Why i left my job to pursue my career as a business owner

In December of 2019, I graduated college with a degree in exercise science. This was a huge accomplishment for me. I was never that great at school, so to be able to graduate with a college degree made me feel like a success. The hill that I had to climb when I left college was getting work experience in the industry that I wanted to be in which was fitness. 2 months out of college, I was hired at OrangeTheory as a group fitness coach. I continued my journey as a coach for almost 3 years, while working various jobs on the side to make extra money as a one on one trainer. Eventually, I left OrangeTheory to start a "real" job at LifeTime Fitness as a full time Personal Trainer. My job at LifeTime felt like the big time for a few reasons; I had a 401k, health insurance, and the potential to make six figures per year. I worked at LifeTime for about 18 months before finally leaving for good and starting my company LARO Fitness in June of 2023.

I day dreamed for a long time before finally making the leap to owning my own business. Every job that I ever had felt wrong. My mentality going into every job that I had was that I wanted to advance as high up in the company as possible. After a while of doing this, I started to realize that no matter how bad I wanted it, I would never move up high enough to be my own boss. I would never be the owner of a company that I was working for. During the jobs that I worked, I gained a huge amount of experience. I learned business operations in the fitness industry that I would not have learned otherwise. Because of this, I don't think any job I have worked was a waste of time.

When you tell yourself that you're going to do something for the 10,000th time, you reach a crossroads. When I got to the fork in the road, I had two options; quit or get started immediately. That's when it hit me that I had to be all in on my business in order to see it become what I want it to be. There's countless reasons why I want to be a business owner. I get to be my own boss, I control how much money I can make. I am learning more and more every day. I get to impact more lives than ever before. The list could go on forever.

If you are an entrepreneur and looking to start your own business, I encourage you to have patience, discipline, and the willingness to keep learning. Work hard and never quit.

I am now motivated to grow as a person so that my business can grow as an entity so that the amount of people I can impact grows exponentially.
